Unity
What is unity? – the state of bring united or joined as a whole
We are united by a common goal or something we have in common.
When we are together we often call this community – unity that comes from something we have in common
We live in the community of what ever town we live in.
Some states are a commonwealth - A traditional English term for a political community founded for the common good, it is used symbolically to emphasize that these states have a "government based on the common consent of the people"
What disrupts unity?
Division – Our country is a good example. We are so divided over many issues.
Racial divides, political divides, social divides, religious divides.
What does division cause – unrest, lack of peace, fear, anxiety
What is the purpose of God for humanity?
Unity of mind, body, spirit.
How can we be united with others when there is no unity within us?
How can we be at peace with others when we are not at peace with ourselves?
How can we see change toward unity in our country, state, community when we are so divided within ourselves?
Understanding unity comes from an understanding of Spirituality. True Spirituality come from revelation. My spirituality is not Christian, it’s Scriptural. It may sound Christian in some ways but it’s not traditional Christianity, though it is Scriptural.
The Scriptures call God the God of peace. There is no division with God only unity.
Scripture also says that God will keep those in peace whose mind is stays on Him.
When we get distracted from the source of peace and unity we become anxious and lose our peace and unity of mind, body, spirit.
Spirt is the part of humanity that can touch the Spirit of God. We say little ’s’, spirit of humanity, and Big ’S’, Spirit of God.
This connection to God is the source of peace and unity. When we develop unity within ourselves then we can be at peace and unity with others around us. This unity comes from love
And over all these virtues walk in love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:14
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3
